Everyone should start a business. Here’s why.
Learn Where Money Comes From
When you’re a kid, money comes from your parents.
Most adults think money comes from their employer.
Business owners know that money comes from providing something of value to other human beings.
I promise this distinction will resonate in a new and meaningful way the first time you get paid for providing a product or service that you created yourself. It’s one of those pulling back the curtain on the Wizard of Oz moments.
Develop Abundance Mindset
It’s easy to fall into scarcity mindset. A life of transactions and trade-offs.
Business is all about creating something out of nothing. It teaches you that there’s an infinite amount of value that you can add to the world (the universe!) and it’s your job just to unlock it.
Practice Being with Uncertainty
Starting a business for the first time is rife with confusion and uncertainty. Getting comfortable with these sensations helps in all areas of life.
Join a Club
Everyone likes to be part of a club right?
Being a business owner is like gaining entry into a secret society that you didn’t know existed until you are on the inside. We even have a secret handshake.
Creation Over Consumption
Social media. The news. TV, movies and YouTube. Amazon. Target, Walmart and fancy boutiques in your local city or town. Restaurants, coffee shops. Car dealers and nail salons.
Consumption is everywhere.
Break the trance. Create something.
Mr. Money Mustache says “muscle over motor” and he’s right. Combine that with “creation over consumption” and happiness is bound to ensue.
Freedom!!!
There’s nothing like knowing you’re not dependent on anyone but yourself to make a buck. Work when you want, how you want and where you want.
It’s a confidence booster, and we could all use a little more confidence.

Learn How to Start a Successful Business
Your first business probably won’t be so hot.
I mean, maybe you’re a business prodigy and everything you touch will turn to gold. But for the rest of us, starting some bad-to-mediocre businesses is a great way to learn how to make a good one.
Don’t Get Crazy Now
Look, not everyone should quit their job or otherwise go all-in on their own business as a means of supporting themselves. Entrepreneurship is hard and it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
But as an experiment or educational exercise it’s tough to beat. So cleave off 10% of your Facebook or Instagram time and get creative.
