If 2020 taught us anything it is that we have no idea, on January 1, what the year ahead will bring. Yet we all have a story in mind. We have plans, goals, expectations.
In an effort to separate from the story and focus on the present moment, the only time life happens, I offer the following resolution which I discovered through Tricycle’s Daily Dharma emails:
I intend to cultivate equanimity and balance—not to panic when things appear to be off track, and not to relax when everything seems to be going smoothly. I intend to cultivate awareness and presence and not focus too hard on the outcome—paying more attention to the process and developing understanding and sympathy for myself and others.

2021 will take care of itself. In December we’ll all know what happened.
In the meantime, let’s live.
