Vibe coding is a new 2025-era term that refers to creating computer software by using plain language, relying on an AI tool to turn that plain language into computer code.

After reading this post on LinkedIn, encouraging knowledge workers to learn to use AI tools to create other tools I decided to give it a try.

I thought for a minute about something I’d like a computer to do that it currently doesn’t do well for me.

Focused task management came to mind immediately.

I’ve tried every task management app under the sun and none have stuck. I always end up with a bottomless list of every random thing I once thought was important to do. Simply managing and reprioritizing the task list becomes a chore in itself. Overwhelm sets in.

I’m also constantly advocating for focusing on ONE thing at a time. Identify the most essential task for the day and get it done, no matter what, before starting ANYTHING else.

So I set about learning and building. In an hour, using mostly Claude 3.7 Sonnet and a couple of other tools, I had:

  • created a beautiful custom app to my exact specifications
  • set up a free GitHub account and repository
  • created a web-hosted version of my app that anyone can use
  • gained a TON of confidence and excitement about what is now possible

As someone who remembers the world before home computers(!) let alone the internet and mobile, this is WILD.
